For Holloway Model Rico Hall, basketball is more than just a hobby. It’s his passion! He started playing the game from a young age in his hometown of Florence, SC and never looked back. Since then, he has gone on to play professionally and won a 2014 summer tournament in Central Asia. His favorite mantra is “stay focused, dream big, stay humble, and enjoy the journey”, so it’s no surprise to us that he has been successful!
How did you get started?
I started playing basketball when I was a kid and kind of progress from there. Workouts where something I always liked because I was able to see myself improve and get better month by month.
Why do you still push yourself to get out and do it?
I fell in love with the process and now I’m hooked on it! I see it as a challenge to turn a weakness into a strength. I thrive off of that sense of accomplishment.
How many times a week do you typically work out?
I work out 6 days a week, with one day focused on yoga and deep stretching!
Why do you work out?
When I was playing basketball professionally, it was all about taking care of your body. I got into different types of workouts, conditioning exercises, etc. I grew to really enjoy them. I was an exercise science major in college and I’m now a licensed strength and conditioning coach, so I like to stay current.
What advice do you have for people just starting out?
Start small and build consistency. Find something you really enjoy and try to find others who love it as well, so you’ll remain motivated. Make sure you take time to rest, too!
What inspires you?
Being physically and mentally healthy is my primary motivation! Everyone is special, talented and unique. You have to see your body as a gift and take care of it.
