For Holloway model Mitch O’Neal, exercise isn’t just a hobby – it is truly a way of life! His love of fitness started early. “I’ve played soccer since I was four years old,” Mitch tells us. But things weren’t always that easy. “I tore my ACL in 2012 and gained a lot of weight due to that,” he says. After taking the appropriate amount of time to rest, Mitch set his mind to getting his personal fitness back on track. “After I healed,” Mitch says, “I started physical therapy and fell in love with personal fitness as a result.”

Today, Mitch makes fitness part of his daily lifestyle. “A philosophy I try to live by is the idea that we have one life to live. Would I rather be sitting around watching TV or being active and having fun? The latter always sounds better to me,” Mitch says. His regular exercise routine involves lifting weights at the gym and playing soccer. He usually works out six days a week. As someone inspired by competition, Mitch is constantly pushing himself to do his best in both fitness and his personal life. “I hate being second best!” he admits.

For those just starting out, Mitch says, “The soreness you feel…embrace it! You’ll learn to absolutely love it.” For a pre-workout snack, he turns to a fruit and leafy veggie smoothie with BCAA and energy supplements. Most importantly, Mitch believes that you can’t give up on your goals. “I tell myself that if I skip working out, I’m cheating myself out of being the best me I can be,” he says. His current favorite workout songs include “On My Mind” by Ellie Goulding and “Blockbuster Night 1” by Run the Jewels.

Looking to the future, Mitch has his sights set high. “I take pride in my education and my desire to learn about anything that interests me,” he says. A personal dream is to continue his education so that when his dream job comes along, he won’t fall short of getting it. On tough days, he reminds himself of his favorite quote by Truett Cathy, “Find something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
